Training & Outreach

Lisbon, Portugal

This call has been temporarily paused.

Would you like to empower scientists to harness cutting-edge tools for neurobehavioral research? Join the Open Ephys user-facing scientific team in Lisbon that provides Training, Support and Community Engagement!

Our team provides specialized training and scientific technical support to help users understand the tools we produce and use them effectively. We orient users and answer their questions and design interactive demos and tutorials to showcase and teach about neurobehavioral tools. You will engage in hands on training in individual sessions, courses, conferences and workshops.

We support tools for electrophysiology, neuronal imaging and behavioral acquisition. In the past year, our team held our third globe-spanning course on extracellular electrophysiology acquisition, ran booths at two of the largest neuroscience conferences, created practical activities for several international workshops and gave many specialized 1:1 trainings to researchers, while contributing back to improve open-source projects.

Location: Lisbon, Portugal

In this role you will:

  • Provide trainings, workshops and courses on open source hardware and software for neurobehavioral research (electrophysiology and imaging)

  • Create materials for demos, practical activities and social media

  • Brainstorm and execute new ideas to better support our users

Preferred qualifications (you do not need to meet all of these to apply!):

  • You have led a project in experimental neuroscience and animal behavior and want to apply your knowledge about tools for neuroscientific research in helping others. Graduate-level research with programming skills for data acquisition and analysis would be ideal.

  • You have a strong interest in disseminating open source tools for science and training researchers around the world. We value past involvement in teaching and outreach.

  • You are capable of organizing and deploying educational activities in English. Past experience with interactive booths or online courses is desirable.

What we offer:

  • Open Ephys Production Site is a company in the traditional sense. You will engage with the larger international Open Ephys team to impact the vision and future of Open Ephys.

  • An opportunity to make cutting-edge scientific instruments accessible across traditional economic barriers.

  • A recognized and respected brand in neuroscience - Open Ephys tools are some of the most widely used instruments in extracellular electrophysiology, and we develop tools in close collaboration with leading labs across the world.

  • An opportunity to normalize the use of open-source tools in cutting-edge neuroscience research.

  • A positive work environment and continous training to encourage you to reach your full potential.

  • Full-time employment under Portuguese law.
